Eduroam

AMBIS university is connected to eduroam

The eduroam federation is an international project to promote mobility and roaming in National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). In the Czech Republic, the project is represented by CESNET. Our university joined the project in 2024. This was a further step to improve the quality of the provision of studies and the prestige of the institution.

One account. Anywhere.

Using roaming is simple, a properly configured subscriber's device connects automatically as soon as the eduroam network is available. This is similar to how roaming connections to foreign mobile operator networks work. Hence the acronym: education roaming.

The service is free for all subscribers.

Activating your eduroam account

In eduroam, a username of the form uco@ambis.cz is used. The password for eduroam is the secondary password of IS. You can set/change the secondary password after logging into IS here.

Setting up user devices to connect to eduroam

To connect to eduroam securely, it is not enough to enter a username and password. You also need to set up a certificate check, the easiest way to do this is with eduroam CAT, see the  documentation on eduroam.cz.

For manual setup, you will need the following information:

  • network name (SSID): eduroam
  • connection protocol: 802.1x
  • WPA2/AES security and encryption
  • Authentication:PEAP (alternatively TTLS)
  • internal authentication protocol: MS-CHAPv2
  • The name of the RADIUS server: radius.ambis.cz
  • The IP address is assigned automatically via DHCP

Covered areas

eduroam is broadcast in all areas of the school.

Traffic filtering

The school's network traffic is filtered in accordance with the laws of the Czech Republic.
Visitor traffic is not interfered with except for filtering outgoing SMTP traffic (TCP/25), use SMTPS (TCP/465) or Submission (TCP/587) to send mail.

Support

Users of our school can contact eduroam@ambis.cz. Visitors with an eduroam account should seek support primarily from their home institution, i.e. the institution that provided the account.
