Publishing activities in the field of Urban and Regional Development Management

Current problems of the contemporary city
The publication was created at the University of Regional Development and the Banking Institute - AMBIS as part of our efforts to maximally connect theoretical teaching with practice and to focus the work with students so that they gain theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience and skills. Within the Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Development Management, the subjects Theory and Practice of Urban Development and Urban Development Policy have already produced a third set of seminar papers in the 2018/19 academic year focused on current development problems of our settlements. The students focused on mapping unused areas and objects - brownfields, but also on the state of public spaces. This resulted in a set of thematically coherent works, which brings ideas and proposals on how to solve selected problems in the most diverse parts of our country.

The ideal city between Renaissance imagination and modern function
Publication created by a student or graduate of AMBIS Ing. Martin Černý under the supervision of doc. Ing. arch. Vladimíra Šilhánková, Ph.D., aims to present Renaissance philosophical and architectural authorities, i.e. the work of Thomas More, Tommaso Campanella, Leon Battista Alberti, Antonio di Pietro Averlino Filaret, in a comparative perspective and to compare the obtained information structure with the categories of utopia/idealism in urban planning of the following development. The Renaissance cultural phenomenon forms one of the foci of urban visualization. The mutual comparison of the selected authors points to a reflection of the very real problems of contemporary cities. It also evaluates the discourse on utopia before the so-called classical utopians such as R. Owen or Ch. Fourier, or whether we can use the writings of Th. More and T. Campanella can be described as "utopian".

Current Problems of the Contemporary City 2
The publication was created at the University of Regional Development and the Banking Institute - AMBIS as part of our efforts to maximally link theoretical teaching with practice and to focus our work with students so that they acquire theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience and skills. Thus, in the summer semester of the academic year 2016/17, the second set of seminar papers focusing on current development problems of our settlements was created in the subject of the Politics of Territorial Development within the Master's degree in Urban and Regional Development Management. The students focused on mapping unused areas and objects - brownfields, regeneration of panel housing estates, the state of public spaces and problems associated with suburbanization. However, many of them did not stop only at describing the existing situation, but in the spirit of their field of study and their application of the acquired knowledge in practice, many of the students also created conceptual proposals for solutions to the described problems. The result is a set of thematically coherent works that provide novel ideas and suggestions on how to solve selected problems in the most diverse parts of our country. As we are convinced that the selected works can be an interesting inspiration, we have decided to share the 16 best works with you in the form of this publication.
